The Summer Program for The University of Michigan at VIIS gave the participants a slice of cultural experience and South India’s musical heritage.
         2 Participants, Carson Landry, Annabella Paolucci accompanied by Professor Stephen Rush learnt Carnatic classical music and Violine in the months of July. This program which started in the year 2008 and has so far hosted 113 students in 10 batches. This year, the students took the classical lessons from Vidushi Rajalaxmi and Vidushi Divyashree. They also amazed the audience during their final vocal performance with a perfect harmony of swara, raga and tala thereby proving that music is a universal language.
        
         They also had classroom sessions on the Indian Epics - Ramayana, History of Yoga, Leadership & Gita, Gender in India and Demo Music Classes by Vidhwan Manasa Nayana & team. They also attended several music concerts in Mysuru city. They had an opportunity to visit the temple at Somanathapura.
