Thanks to Swaralayam Arts Forum (SAF) of Houston, USA seeking and then teaming up with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), the Sulochana Pattabhiraman Utsavam has taken a firm root In Mysuru District. This initiative is a result of Swaralayam Arts Forum’s Founder-Director, Ravi Iyer’s vision in paying homage to Smt. Sulochana Pattabhiraman. While the tribal and rural students of SVYM showcased their talents through Arts for the theme ” RECYCLING” and Essay writing to the theme “DUTIES OF THE CITIZEN '' the children of Mysuru district showcased their talents in Vocal and Instrumental Carnatic Music. Vidwan Subramanya Kumar, Vidushi N. Bharathi, Vidushi Indrani Anantharam, Mr. Manoj Kalkar, Mr. Nagesha C and Mr. Mohan Kumar for Drawing, MS Lakshmi M S, Ms. Prathima and Dr. Jyothi Shankar were the judges for the classical music competition. Each year, the professionals are volunteering, sharing their talent and time on a pro bono basis as homage to Smt. Sulochana Pattabhiraman. At this years’ momentous 14th Utsavam, the students had an opportunity to perform as an ensemble to have an experience of a concert. Eminent vocalist Vidushi Dharitri Anantharam was the Chief guest and Smt Sangeetha Srinidhi Deputy director academics, SVYM presided. A workshop on Art was conducted at noon by Mr.Mahadevashetty from Kalanikethana School of Visual Arts. A professional Intercontinental teamwork between Swaralayam Arts Forum and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement benefits tribal and non-tribal children through fine arts and music in HD Kote and Mysore districts - the torchbearers for a culturally enlightened, saner and peaceful tomorrow.
