Summer Study of Music, Dance & Yoga in India 2019-The University of Michigan

       The Summer Program for The University of Michigan at VIIS gave the participants a slice of cultural experience and South India’s musical heritage.
        3 Participants, Joana Rusche, Cameron Blake & Jung Yoon Wie accompanied by Professor Stephen Rush learnt Carnatic classical music and yoga in the months of July & Aug. This program which started in the year 2008 and has so far hosted 113 students in 10 batches. This year, the students took the classical lessons from Vidushi Rajalaxmi. They also amazed the audience during their final vocal performance with a perfect harmony of swara, raga and tala thereby proving that music is a universal language.
        
        They also had classroom sessions on the history of India, history of yoga, leadership & the Gita and demo music classes by Vidhwan Manasa Nayana & team. They also attended several music concerts in Mysuru city. They had an opportunity to visit the music temple at Rudrapatna, a village which was an abode of Veda, Nada, and Taranga.
